The company is in a difficult spot due to the fact that, at this point in date, Kelly has not been found guilty of any offense. It’s a bit difficult to remove him from the company and hold back funds based on the allegations. If the contract he signed has an “morals clause” it’s possible that RCA/Sony could use it to get out of the agreement.
In February of 2019, R. Kelly was taken into custody on a variety that included new allegations. The bail amount is set at $1 million that could have been met by a payment of $100,000. However, Kelly was so cash-strapped that it took a few days to raise the cash. In actual fact the report stated that the $100,000 was actually a gift from a woman called Valencia Love whose precise relationship to R. Kelly is unclear. When Kelly was in prison, his ex-wife Andrea brought a lawsuit seeking $160,000 of not paid child support.
